Dear CNI members:

CNI, the EDUCAUSE National Learning Infrastructure Initiative (NLII), and
the Flashlight Program of the TLT Group are sponsoring "Transformative
Assessment:  A Course of Action."  This project is designed to elicit new
ideas about assessment practices and systems that will transform teaching
and learning, and to help institutions of higher education put these ideas
into action.

There will be three coordinated aspects of this program:

- A Focus Session:  Transformative Assessment:  Step One, which is
scheduled for September 14, 2001 in Denver.
- An applied online course following the focus session
- An online community to guide and support assessment teams as they
implement these ideas at their institutions.

As a CNI member institution, you are invited to send up to three
individuals from your institution to the September 14 Focus Session
without paying a registration fee.  You must contact me directly
(joan@cni.org) to obtain a confirmation number so that
you may register without paying a fee.  Enrollment is limited.

If your institution is interested in becoming more involved in assessment
related to technology, teaching, and learning, this should be an excellent
opportunity for staff to gain requisite skills and develop an assessment
plan along with their peers from other institutions.
