CALL for PARTICIPATION

This unique and well-established series brings together researchers,=20
developers and practitioners working in various disciplines and related=20=

areas of digital libraries all over the world, providing a meeting=20
point for the library, Web and DL communities.

The conference will consist of a three days technical programme,=20
preceded by a tutorial day and followed by workshops. The technical=20
program will include refereed paper presentations, plenary sessions,=20
panels and poster sessions.

ECDL 2007 will be devoted to discussions about hot issues and=20
applications and will primarily provide a forum to reinforce the=20
collaboration of researchers and practicioners in the following topics:=20=

Ontologies, Digita Libraries and the Web, Models, Multimedia and=20
Multilingual Digital Libraries, Grid and Peer-to-Peer, Preservation,=20
User Interfaces, Document Linking, Information Retrieval, Personal=20
Information Management, New DL Applications, and User Studies.

The keynote talk by Prof. Seamus Ross (Humanities Computing &=20
Information Management (HATII), University of Glasgow) will address the=20=

questions of preservation, while the keynote talk by Prof. Arne=20
Solvgerg (Dept. of Computer and Information Science (IDI), Norwegian=20
University of Science and Technology (NTNU)) will focus on=20
WiFi-Trondheim - an experiment in providing Broadband Everywhere for=20
All.

Panels will address timely and important topics, namely, experiences of=20=

DL projects in panel =84On the move towards the European Digital =
Library:=20
BRICKS, TEL, MICHAEL and DELOS converging experiences=94 in synergy with=20=

the European Commission`s initiatives and the special challenges of=20
digital library research and development in the host region of the=20
conference in panel =84Digital Libraries in Central and Eastern Europe:=20=

Infrastructure Challenges for the New Europe=94

The correspondiong tutorials will provide further in-depth looks at=20
areas of current interest, including Thesauri and Ontologies, DL=20
Education, Large Scale Digital Library Infrastructures, Sharing=20
Content, Services and Computing Resources.

The Workshops, covering wide areas of interest, to be held in=20
conjunction with ECDL2007, on September 20-21.

Venue
Budapest, one of the most beautiful historical capitals in Europe, is=20
situated on the banks of the Danube. Buda lies in the hills on the=20
western bank, famous for its historic Castle Hill and beautiful=20
residential area, and bustling Pest with its shopping, government and=20
commercial districts lies on the flat plain of the east bank.

The architectural beauty with its monuments from neo-classic through=20
baroque to eclectic art nouveau is prevalent in the city. Budapest is=20
also world famous for its artistic abundance of concerts, operas,=20
recitals, galas and exhibitions.

The Europa Congress Center, the conference site, providing a modern=20
plenary room and several session rooms with state-of-the-art=20
technology, will be a unique venue to organize the event.
