Program The morning will open with a keynote address delivered by Suzanne=20 Ortega, Vice Provost and Dean, the Graduate School, University of=20 Washington, and a member of the Advisory Committee that authored the=20 Council of Graduate Schools 2007 report, Graduate Education: The=20 Backbone of American Competitiveness and Innovation. Ortega will=20 provide an overview of the state of graduate education and highlight=20 recommendations from the Council of Graduate Schools report. A panel will then summarize common findings across a trio of library=20 field studies focused on graduate student academic and research=20 behaviors. The panel will also suggest opportunities for moving forward=20= with efficacious library services and resources. A panel of graduate=20 students will speak after lunch. The afternoon will consist of=20 concurrent breakout sessions for more deeply engaging the findings of=20 the field studies to imagine implications for enhancing library space,=20= services, and resources for graduate students. Audience The forum is designed for an audience representative of many of the=20 communities within university and research institutions, especially=20 those engaged in graduate programs. The intended audience includes=20 library deans/directors, senior library leadership, subject liaisons,=20 coordinators for library instruction programs, campus staff involved in=20= enhancement of teaching and learning, deans of graduate programs, and=20 others involved in graduate education. Registration The registration deadline is September 28, 2007, or when registration=20 reaches room capacity. The registration fee for ARL/CNI members is=20 $260; the non-member fee is $290.
