With the increasing number of digital objects=97both those born digital =20= and those that have been converted to digital formats to enhance =20 access, delivery, and creative use of library collections=97the need to =20= focus on how these digital objects themselves will be preserved is =20 paramount. Good business practices require attention to =20 interoperability with various systems and platforms, a focus on =20 accessibility, and use of and attention to formats that will be allow =20= for extensibility and flexibility. By creating well-formed content at =20= the outset and paying attention to digital preservation issues as =20 part of the collection management plan, we can better ensure the =20 longevity of these collections. NISO's Digital Preservation forum =20 will provide insight and allow for further discussion of these issues.** **The keynote speaker will be Evan Owens, Chief Technology Officer =20 for Portico, a not-for-profit service that provides a permanent =20 archive of scholarly literature.
