On 14-16 January 2008 the University of Chicago hosted an NSF-sponsored workshop on Building Effective Virtual Organizations (BEVO). VOs are a key component of the NSF cyberinfrastructure vision, and NSF has been rolling out a number of calls for the establishment of what are essentially disciplinary VOs.
