I wanted to share this announcement from the Sakai community with the CNI-announce readership. Sakai is a large-scale open source learning management and collaboration environment that is being developed by a number of major universities. There are very interesting questions about how such systems fit into the broader evolution of cyberinfrastructure, and how they integrate with digital content management, delivery and preservation systems and services.

2008 Sakai Community Conference

The Sakai Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2008 Sakai
Community Conference will be held in Paris, France. The dates will be
Tuesday-Thursday, 1-3 July, with pre-conference sessions and activities
On Monday, 30 June.  All meetings and conference sessions will be held at
the Universite Pierre et Marie Curie.  The ever popular Sakai technical
demonstrations will take place on Wednesday evening, 2 July, at the Marriott
Rive Gauche Hotel and Conference Center, which is located nearby.

Sakai community conferences have emerged as high-energy occasions for

System administrators, educational and collaborative technology managers.
Sakai conferences provide a welcoming and informative venue for all  all
those interested in seeing what the Sakai community and software are all
about.
