Greetings:
Please join us for an opportunity to explore the process of renovations for spaces for STEM learning at West Point. The LSC webinar is at 4 p.m. EDT on Thursday, April 19, 2012.
This webinar will be facilitated by Lieutenant Colonel John Hartke, one of the project shepherds for the Phase I renovation, in which a 112,000 square foot student library was transformed into a state-of-the-art building that supports learning and research in the Department of Chemistry and Life Sciences and the Department of Physics and Nuclear Engineering, as well as the Photonics Research Center and the Nuclear Science and Engineering Research Center.
This will be an interactive webinar.
You will have opportunity to examine photos illustrating the outcome of their planning goals: about making the doing of science visible, about their new concept of the 'classatory,' which enables significant blurring of the classroom-laboratory experience, and more.
You will have opportunity to learn about the challenges and opportunities embedded in a significant renovation project, and what they learned in the process that is informing their continuing renovation efforts.
You will learn the cadets and faculty are adjusting to new spaces, new opportunities for learning, for teaching, and for research.
You will be able to ask for advice about considering renovations, planning for renovations, and gain insights about modest steps toward renewing spaces, whether or not a major remodeling project for STEM learning communities on your campus is in your immediate future.
