A Conversation on the Changing Landscape of Information Systems in Higher Education, the opening plenary from CNI's fall 2014 membership meeting, with Clifford Lynch (CNI), James Hilton (U. Michigan), Michele Kimpton (DuraSpace), and Tom Cramer (Stanford), is now available online:
About the session: For the last decade the higher education and research world has
invested heavily in community source development efforts to identify alternatives to large-scale commercial software, and, in some cases, to
create new kinds of software in advance of the emergence of a commercial
marketplace. This conversation with three long-time leaders explores these developments
and where they may be taking us in the near and longer terms, considering a broad range of issues, including stability and resilience, the shifting role of standards, and the implications of changes in the rate of innovation and
deployment of innovation. Previously-released video from this meeting: -An Evolving Environment: Privacy, Security, Migration and Stewardship (Clifford Lynch, CNI)
