We are delighted to announce this year's Open Access Symposium, focused this time on the topic of Open Access, the Law, and Public Information.  This year's symposium will be held in Dallas, Texas, on May 19, with a conference reception on the evening of May 18.  Please consider proposing a session; we hope to see you there!

Symposium on Open Access, the Law, and Public Information

The University of North Texas Libraries invites you to attend Open Access, the Law, and Public Information. UNT's sixth annual Open Access Symposium will take place May 19, 2015 at the UNT College of Law in Dallas, TX.  Mary Alice Baish (U.S. Superintendent of Documents) will deliver an address about the new Federal Information Preservation Network, the recent national initiative for public information in the United States.

The 2015 symposium will examine the broad issue of ensuring public access to legal, government, and other varieties of public sphere information.  Presentations will include topics in IR deposit of public and legal information, web harvesting and preservation of the government web domain, the Uniform Electronic Legal Materials Act, and federal mandates for preserving research data.  This symposium typically brings together researchers, librarians, administrators, and other OA stakeholders with an interest in engaging with the broad topic of Open Access.  While the schedule of sessions is already filling up, there may be opportunities for additional presenters who are interested in participating; contact us directly if interested.
