Colleagues,
I share below an invitation to join the August 24th open call of the EDUCAUSE Research Computing and Data Community Group (RCD CG), to learn about the " Scholarly Communication Infrastructure Guide: Buy, Build, or Partner” (developed by the Higher Education Leadership Initiative for Open Scholarship, or HELIOS), and how four research universities are working across campus units (Office of Compliance, Libraries, Research and IT) to support open data sharing and public access compliance using the guide.
The event will be held August 24th at 1 pm ET - more information is below, including the Zoom link to join the call.
University of Oregon Vice Provost and University Librarian Alicia Salaz, who will speak during the RCD call, provided a lightning round overview of HELIOS at CNI’s Dec. 2022 meeting, available here: https://youtu.be/_-a5jgFr5bw?t=2465
Our thanks to RCD CG leadership for bringing this event to our attention.
-Diane Goldenberg-Hart, CNI

The Higher Education Leadership Initiative for Open Scholarship (HELIOS) is a cohort of 96 colleges and universities committed to collective action to advance open scholarship, including open data, within and across their campuses. HELIOS emerged from the National Academies Roundtable on Aligning Incentives for Open Science, and has launched a community of practice, with four working groups, aimed at ensuring open scholarship training is more accessible, more aligned, and more rewarding for researchers and their institutions. One of HELIOS' working groups, the Shared Open Scholarship Infrastructure Working Group, developed the "Scholarly Communication Infrastructure Guide: Buy, Build, or Partner" to support higher education leadership in making informed infrastructure decisions that consider factors such as cost transparency, governance, compliance implications, and interoperability. Join us on August 24th at 1 pm ET to learn about the resource and how four research universities are working across campus units (Office of Compliance, Libraries, Research and IT) to support open data sharing and public access compliance using the guide.
