<CNI-ANNOUNCE>
The US National Science Board (NSB) has just issued a short policy brief framing what it characterizes as dramatic changes in the Science and Engineering Landscape and setting up a discussion of new policies and strategies for funding, international competition and workforce development. This is happening in conjunction with he start of Dr. Dario Gill's term as Chair of the NSB, following prior chair Professor Dan Reed (who recently keynoted CNI's Spring 2024 meeting in San Diego; see
https://www.cni.org/events/membership-meetings/past-meetings/spring-2024/plenary-sessions-s24
). Gill is Director of Research and Senior Vice President at IBM. This promises to be an important and very timely discussion.

The National Science Board is meeting July 24-25 (this Wednesday and Thursday); much of the Wednesday meeting is open and will be live cast, and includes discussion of this policy briefing. See

I am unclear about if or when a recording of this session will be available.
