The materials from the 5th Global Research Platform 9 (which was held in Osaka Japan Sept 16-17, 2024) are now available at

This provide a great look at high performance computing and communication initiatives that are supporting leading edge scientific research around the world. While I was to able to be in Osaka, I've had the opportunity to attend earlier workshops in the series, and found them very valuable in understanding the challenges we are going to face in the coming years.

Below, I've reproduced the full announcement from the workshop organizers which has more details. Please also note that 6GRP will take place in Chicago September 15-16, 2025 in conjunction with IEEE E-Science 2025.

All,

The 5th Global Research Platform (5GRP) Workshop was co-located with the IEEE e-Science 2024 Conference in Osaka, Japan, September 16-17, 2024. There were approximately 50 attendees over two days, with an impressive set of 25 speakers from 8 countries: Canada, Czech Republic, Japan, Korea, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan and the USA. There were 30 presentations in such areas as: (1) Large-Scale Global Science; (2) Next-Generation Research Platforms; (3) Orchestration Among Multiple Domains; (4) High-Capacity WAN Transport, High-Fidelity Flow Monitoring, Visualization, Analytics, Diagnostic Algorithms, Event Correlation AI/ML/DL; (5) International Testbeds for Data-Intensive Science and the Transition to Tbps-800G-400G WANs; and (6) Enhancements of Major R&E Networks and Open Exchange Points.

The 5GRP final program and presentations are available on the GRP website, https://www.theglobalresearchplatform.net/meetings/the-5th-global-research-platform-workshop/. We are missing two presentations and they will be posted once received.

All talks were extremely well received and questions and comments were insightful. 5GRP was a huge success and organizers are already planning next year˘s Workshop, to be held September 15-16, 2025 and co-located with the IEEE eScience 2025 conference in Chicago, USA.
